Sikkim University celebrated the 79th Independence Day with great enthusiasm and patriotic fervor at the Gangtok Campus. The occasion commenced with the hoisting of the National Flag by the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Prof. Santanu Kumar Swain, followed by a ceremonial salutation and the singing of the National Anthem.

In his address, Vice Chancellor Prof. Swain congratulated the entire SU fraternity on the occasion of Independence Day. He paid heartfelt tributes to the valiant freedom fighters of the nation and especially acknowledged the significant contributions of freedom fighters from Sikkim. He urged everyone to contribute meaningfully to the nation-building process with utmost sincerity and dedication. Emphasizing the importance of unity, he stated that collective efforts can bring about a substantial and positive impact on the development of the nation.

Prof. Laxuman Sharma, Registrar, also extended his greetings to all on this momentous day. He highlighted the progress and development of Sikkim University since its establishment and provided an update on the construction status of the University’s permanent campus. He concluded by expressing his gratitude to all faculty members, non-teaching staff, and security personnel for their support in making the event a grand success.
